It's all about community

My bff Dara Strickland owner of Signature Quarter Horses and Creations of Panama City, FL posted on her page something I can totally resonate with. She wrote:

"Finding your people in the horse world matters more than any fancy facility or perfect arena.

It’s the barn where your horse is cared for like they’re our own — where someone notices the little things, celebrates the good days, and worries right alongside you on the hard ones. It’s the place where your goals matter, your questions are welcome, and your horse’s well-being always comes first.

A good boarding barn isn’t just a place to keep your horse.

It’s a community.

It’s trust.

It’s knowing that when you can’t be there, someone who truly cares is.

When you find a barn that loves your horses like family… you’ve found your people."

This is so true. And not just quality of care for your horse, but if your a lesson student this applies as well. Because I know lesson students always have that favorite school horse they wish was their own, that they love as if it was theirs, the one they've whispered secrets to while grooming. But your "tribe" , the people that encourage, that stop and show how to do something, the ones that understand you may not know but are willing to share the knowledge, those are the people creating space for the next generation. We need more of that than those who are just chasing ribbons. Don't get me wrong, ribbons are nice but growing and creating a partnership and building a community - that will last longer than any ribbon.

Appy Riding everyone!
